National Professional Qualifications (NPQs):

National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) from 2024- 25

We are continuing with our current cohorts of NPQs with Best Practice Network and Education Development Trust, but new NPQ applications for Autumn 24 will have different funding arrangements and will be offered through Best Practice Network and Teach First.

Please click here for further details.

What are the NPQs?

The NPQs are a national, voluntary suite of recognised professional qualifications, designed to support the professional development of teachers, leaders, and aspiring leaders inside and outside the classroom.

They are part of a wider set of DfE reforms to teacher development, which together create a ‘golden thread’ of high-quality, evidence-informed teacher development opportunities, spanning across the entirety of a teacher’s career.

Why complete an NPQ?

Completing an NPQ can:

  • provide training and support for teachers and leaders at all levels
  • be completed around existing commitments
  • improve outcomes for children and young people
  • support staff development
