Education Development Trust's Early Career Training Programme (ECTP) for ECTE empowers teachers with evidence-led knowledge and skills for immediate impact in the classroom. ECTP is based on the Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework (ITTECF) and designed around how people really learn. With a flexible approach that considers what works best in each teacher's unique situation.

Programme Content

By bridging the gap between initial training and long-term career success, the Early Career Training Programme aims to ensure that every teacher has the pedagogical depth to thrive in the classroom.

  • Year 1: Strengthening the Foundation: Year 1 focuses on the core Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework (ITTECF) through personalised learning tracks to support ECTs individual development, consolidating or extending their understanding.

  • Year 2: Cultivating Autonomy & Agency As confidence grows, the curriculum shifts. Year 2 is designed to be practitioner-led. Working closely with their mentor, ECTs take ownership of their professional development, diving deep into specialised areas of interest, preparing for a sustainable, impactful career in education.

Our Cluster Training Groups

Our Early Career Teacher programme is organised so that ECTs work within groups that reflect their current phase or area of specialism.

By learning alongside others in comparable roles and settings, ECTs are able to engage in focused discussion, share challenges and successes, and explore strategies that are directly relevant to their day-to-day practice. This approach helps to build strong professional connections with other teachers working in similar contexts, and ensures that training is purposeful, practical and immediately applicable.
